On September 30th, translators\u2019 legacy is celebrated across the world. This date corresponds with the Feast of St. Jerome, one of the original translators of The Bible into Latin from the Greek manuscripts. It is a tribute to translators\u2019 contributions in uniting the world, connecting people and promoting cultural heritage in changing times. On May 24, 2017, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the 71\/288 Resolution on the role of language professionals in connecting nations and promoting peace, and it announced September 30 as International Day of Translation to honor translators\u2019 role in fostering global development and emphasizing their role in political and cultural multilateralism and multilingualism.<\/span><\/p>

As translators celebrate their creativity, longevity and unity, the <\/span>International Federation of Translators<\/span><\/a> chose the issue of copyright to be this year\u2019s theme to recognize translations as original creative works in their own right that deserve to be protected by copyright protection under the <\/span>Berne Convention<\/span><\/a> to ensure the future sustainability of the profession of translation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
